2019 ASBMB Branding Guidelines
Last year I was asked to update the Branding Guidelines I had created about 7 years ago for The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). After meeting with the marketing team and assessing their needs it ended up being more of rebrand than an update (doesn’t it always?) and took several months to complete. It was a ton of fun and one of my proudest accomplishments. Their team is always a joy to work with and I look forward to updating their brand in another 7 years (but hopefully even sooner!)
I have highlighted a few sections from the guidelines below but for the full guide click here.
Site graphics
Illustrations were already being used in print collateral but they were having a hard time figuring out how to translate that aesthetic to the new website. I gave several examples of how they could be used and this look is now seen throughout the ASBMB site. Go to www.asbmb.org to see more.
Email templates
Emails needed an overhaul to better represent the new illustrative look of ASBMB. People (members) were also still important to show and were added into the foreground to draw in readers. The new colors and fonts were also used for these mockups.
Bold and blue
After over seven years the color palette needed an overhaul. Bold, deep, rich colors were chosen to better represent the seriousness and scientific expertise of ASBMB.
